Farm Animal Cards

My son's preschool year is almost over and they have a big celebration on their last day of school. Games, prizes, crafts and snacks. I am co-chair of this day (don't ask how I got that job) and so I found theses adorable cards made by Lynn Pratt. We are using these cards for passports for the children at celebration. Needless to say this is what I have been doing for the last couple weeks, 89 animal cards and 89 barns. I will show you the barns later this week. Each class was a different animal: horses, cows, ducks, lambs, pigs and chickens. Lynn did not have any ducks so I made the duck up from scratch. Well I better get back to making the barns.

Technique University Part 2 (May)

The new Smooch Spritz in the Summer Mini are so much fun to play with. They really add that little extra to make your cards stand out. Smooch Spritz: I used the Vintage Stencils (also in the Summer Mini) to add depth to the card.

Technique University (May)

Where did this week go? I started off the week with my Technique Class on Monday which was a big hit. We had a great time playing with the brayers and Smooch Spritz. Here are a few of the cards we made. This technique is called Brayer Blending with two or more colors. These cards make me feel like a real artist, they are great for landscapes.
Layer with a Brayer: This is also a great technique to use for landscapes and especially with the moon or sun images. The color choices are endless with this technique.
Brayering a Halo of Color: I use this technique when I want the stamped image to really stand out. This is also great to do with photos on scrapbook pages.
Brayer Hidden Color Embossing Resist: We combined a couple techniques to creat the card above. You use Embossing Resist along with the brayer, to get a rainbow of colors on the images you want to stand out.
Brayered Impressions: I used my favorite tool the Big Shot and embossing folders. Since roses are my favorite flower, I play with this folder quite often. I like how you can see the image below the raised image.

I will show you the Smooch technique examples tomorrow. If you like these techniques and want to order the class contact me today. You will receive the cardstock to make 3 cards and written instructions on the techniques for $10.00. Add $5.00 for shipping and handling. Next month the technique class will be playing with water, so hope you will join me. Monday June 14th at my Stampin Studio

Vintage on Studio 6

Vintage is really in right now and it took me a little while to get on board, but now that I am, I am hooked. The main thing about Vintage is making things look warn. I used the Stencil, Dotto and a Spong Dauber to decorate my card stock in a Vintage Style. The Stencil I used is Mostly Vintage out of the Summer Mini. Then I took a sponge and sponged the edges with a darker ink (Close to Cocoa). I then took my cutter kit and freyed the edges. I did the same thing on the background behind the photo. I then sponged very lightly aroudn the stencils. Then I ripped the Close to Cocoa cardstock and rolled the edges. I then took a background stamp and stamped the Very Vanilla card stock. I tore an edge in the Close to Cocoa and rolled the edges. I kept these pages simple so you could see the technique.
Another technique is to take a stamp set, stamp in Chocate Chip, use water colors to color in the flowers. Then cut them out and cut them apart to add to the page. I got this scrapbook page from a fellow Demonstrator Connie.

Have fun turning your scrapbook pages into Vintage art pieces. Remember May is National Scrapbooking Month so start Scrappin!

The Farm

Can I just say, I love working with all my fellow Stampin Up Demonstrators. They are so talented and make things I could not even imagine. My son goes to Preschool and their theme this year is The Farm. Each class is a differnt animal and they have a big celebration at the end of the year (I can't believe the year is almost over). Anyways I was trying to think of how to incorporate Stampin Up with their theme, so I started looking at our Stampin Up connection (demonstrators only website). I ran accross this perfect barn. The Barn was created by a fellow demonstrator Lynn Pratt. She is absolutely amazing. I copied the 3D Barn as shown below. Then I had to make the animals too (also done by Lynn Pratt). Then I created the front of the barn to do as art project with the kids so they have something to take home to their parents at the end of the year. As soon as it is finished I will show you that too.

I look forward to stamping with you soon.

Elements of Style

This is a sneak peak at one of the cards we will be making in card class on May 18th. I absolutely love this set. I was inspired so much that I decided to make a couple scrapbook pages. Since this is National Scrapbook month I made a promise to myself I would make 30 pages, so 2 pages down 28 more to go. Coming up this Friday is my crop night so come make some of your own scrapbook pages and don't forget I am having an Open House on May 8th to show off all the new Summer Mini items. There will be door prizes, make-n-takes and lots of examples so bring your camera. For all you chocolate lovers, there will also be the chocolate fountain, so I hope you will join me. Please RSVP so I don't run out of supplies.

Stamps: Elements of Style, Itty Bitty Basics, and Sanded
Cardstock: Ruby Red, Close to Cocoa, & Very Vanilla
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Creamy Carmel, Old Olive, & Ruby Red

Happy Stampin!
